Here we go! It is finally happening!
My brother, Andy, encouraged me a few years back that we really should be blogging our adventures as we attempt to learn to farm and raise livestock. It probably was after one of my many stories of something that actually worked or more likely a story about something that went quite awry and the lesson that I hopefully have learned. The latter especially happened more than the former in the first few years. Now, maybe they are just about equal.
We started down this venture when towards the very end of 2008 we moved into one of the family's old farm houses that was originally built in 1884. We had intentions to start raising some of our own healthy food to provide for our family and friends. We knew we had a lot to learn as neither Renae or I had any true prior experience being around farming. What we did have was a desire to Glorify God in our stewardship of the land and in our raising of livestock and all that they produce. We were blessed to be able to utilize a portion of the land that has been in the Reed family since 1884. It was mostly dormant to the family farming for 40+ years but has been leased to other farmers throughout the years.
We invite you to come along on our adventure! Learn as we learn! And we are always open to well mannered advice! That is as long as it does not contradict what we are trying to do!
