We traded a goat for a cat. It was not what we intended when the day started...
We had one last Boer goat, Ben, left on the farm who thought he was more of a cow than a goat. He would hang with the cows instead of the herd of goats that we used to have. As our fold of Scottish Highlands grew in numbers, Ben spent less and less time with the cows. We would often find him wandering off into the field alone to spend his time. We knew some good friends of ours had always admired Ben and Renae first thought of them if they would be interested in taking Ben in. They run a local horse ministry and arguably also a part-time animal sanctuary!
While dropping Ben off, Isaac was offered a cat... I most definitely was moved by his tears as he asked, "Daddy, can I have a cat..." I caved... It really didn't take much. Ares, as the cat was named, soon became Shadow and is the best cat one could have ever asked for with a young boy.
Isaac's days were now consumed with Shadow. All he wants to do is play with Shadow. Shadow again was the best cat one could ever ask for. He tolerates a child's play and keeps coming back for more! He is one of the most loving cats I have ever seen.
Isaac who used to get up around 7:30-8:30 in the morning quickly started waking up around 6-6:30 every morning and would state, "I wanna go outside and play with Shadow..."
And Isaac, definitely has a new Shadow as they romp around the farm playing together...
